Community Action 193: Report a Nonemergency Local Concern
The Idea: Notify the responsible public agency about an issue such as a pothole, damaged sign, broken streetlight, blocked sidewalk, abandoned waste, graffiti, irrigation leak, or malfunctioning public facility.
Why It Matters: Accurate reports can help agencies identify maintenance needs, prioritize work, and address conditions that staff may not yet know about.
Try It Today: Use your city or county’s official service-request system and provide the location, a factual description, and a photograph when permitted and safe.
Make It Work for You: Do not enter traffic, private property, construction areas, utility spaces, or dangerous locations to document a concern. Avoid identifying or accusing individuals without reliable evidence. Use emergency services for immediate threats to life, active fires, serious crimes, hazardous conditions, or other urgent situations. Response times depend on jurisdiction, priority, staffing, and available resources.
