The Idea: Plan an approved campaign or event that raises money for a nonprofit’s programs, services, or general operations.
Why It Matters: A responsible fundraiser may provide financial support, introduce new people to a cause, and deepen community engagement with the organization.
Try It Today: Contact the nonprofit before making announcements and ask about its fundraising policies, current priorities, approved language, branding, and payment methods.
Make It Work for You: Obtain written authorization and clearly identify the organizer, beneficiary, purpose, dates, expenses, fees, donation process, refund terms, and tax status of contributions. Follow applicable fundraising, raffle, gaming, alcohol, food, venue, permit, privacy, and financial-reporting requirements. Direct funds through an official or properly controlled account whenever possible. Never suggest that the nonprofit endorses a person, business, product, or political position unless authorized.
