The Idea: Participate constructively in efforts to make schools physically safe, emotionally supportive, accessible, and welcoming to students from different backgrounds and circumstances.
Why It Matters: Students are better able to learn when they are treated with dignity, protected from harassment and violence, and provided reasonable access to educational opportunities.
Try It Today: Review the school or district’s official policies, reporting procedures, meeting schedule, and available student-support resources.
Make It Work for You: Focus on verified concerns, applicable policies, practical solutions, and the appropriate decision-making process. Protect student privacy and avoid naming or accusing minors publicly. Do not threaten, harass, spread unverified allegations, disrupt instruction, or interfere with emergency and disciplinary procedures. Urgent threats should be reported through appropriate official channels.
