Community Action 347: Write a Public Note of Community Appreciation
The Idea: Publish a short, sincere message recognizing a person, team, organization, or group that has contributed positively to the community.
Why It Matters: Responsible public appreciation can draw attention to constructive work, strengthen relationships, and encourage a culture in which community contributions are noticed.
Try It Today: Draft a brief note describing what happened, who contributed, and why the effort mattered.
Make It Work for You: Verify names, titles, organizations, dates, and claims before publishing. Obtain permission to use photographs, personal stories, quotations, or information involving minors and vulnerable individuals. Avoid exaggeration, political assumptions, undisclosed commercial promotion, or language suggesting one person deserves credit for a collective effort. Do not reveal confidential, medical, emergency, donor, client, or personnel information.
Take It Further: Submit the note to a neighborhood newsletter, local publication, organizational bulletin, or appropriate social-media page and include an official link where readers can learn more.
Community Connection: Public appreciation, positive communication, community recognition, and responsible storytelling
