Try It Today: Identify three causes you care about, research local organizations working in each area, and choose one for deeper involvement.
Make It Work for You: Review the organization’s mission, governance, programs, financial practices, volunteer requirements, community reputation, and reported results. Consider whether people directly affected by the issue help shape its work. Avoid choosing solely because of a compelling advertisement, celebrity endorsement, personal pressure, or one unverified story. Supporting one cause does not diminish the legitimacy of other needs.
Take It Further: Set a learning goal, attend an orientation, establish a trial commitment, include the cause in your giving plan, and review your choice after several months.
